Medical Laboratory Clerk
Position available in downtown Louisville, applicants must have one year of relevant experience and be available to work Monday to Friday 8am to 4:40pm. Parking is provided at no charge. Hourly pay rate will be based on chosen applicants experience and will not exceed $14 an hour.
Duties in this position
Process laboratory orders in the Laboratory Information System(LIS)
Obtain patient diagnosis code from provider
Obtain laboratory test CPT codes for patient billing purposes
Generate laboratory test orders using the laboratory computer system
Print labels for laboratory specimens
Instructs patient on how to collect laboratory samples
Schedule patients in clinic computer
Ensures that patient encounters are accounted for daily
Adhere to universal precautions Performs related work as required
Knowledge and Skills required
Knowledge of medical terminology, medical symbols, medical abbreviations, knowledge of laws governing the release of medical information, knowledge of laboratory coding, ability to operate office equipment, ability to complete data entry and attention to detail.
